Happy to be listing the second Sikkim tea from the season, made from the batch right next to the black tea, a handrolled, lightly roasted Oolong. These oolongs were the first roasted ones in India and hold a special place in our hearts. This too comes from our favourite, The Bermiok Tea Estate and is made using Phoobsering 312 cultivar.
The dry leaves have sweet notes of red apple with a clove like finish. When placed on the heated ware, you can enjoy notes of dates and red apple. The liquor greets you with a cedarwood note first, transforming into fruity notes of muskmelon and pineapples next. This is even more nectar like than the first flush and the sweetness on the finish is more prominent. As you sip further, you get notes of crunchy green apricots. There is a very pleasant dryness on every sip, slightly woody in taste and also with the signature lantana note of Sikkim teas.
